Rubicon Trail Maintenance with San Luis Obispo County Crawlers
In this episode of SnailTrail4x4, Jimmy Jet and Jason go to the Rubicon with some friends from San Luis Obispo County Crawlers (SCC) aka SLO County Crawlers. We were invited to go out on their annual Rubicon Trail Maintenance trip. This was much more than a wheeling trip, we were finally able to give back the trail we have enjoyed for so many years.
We started the morning off early meeting at Loon Lake at 8 am. We meet with El Dorado Couty to get our particular assignment and location to work on. This year we were to do some maintenance at Winter Camp. Winter Camp is located ruffly a tenth of a mile before Little Sluice. This meant we have about 4 miles of wheeling before us.
After Crossing Gate Keeper, the Granite Bowl, Walker hill, and a few other obstacles we finally arrived at Winter Camp. El Dorado County wanted us to drop some trees, move some rocks, clean up the camp site and do an erosion review of the trail. Once we were done, we were invited to stay at Spider Lake for the night… End of Part 1
