LED or HID what is the difference
2 Minute Tuesday, What is the difference between LEDs and HID light bulbs? These two bulbs are not very similar at all.
LED which stands for Light Emitting Diode doesn’t have any moving parts and therefore is nearly shockproof. the light it creates is brighter than a standard halogen but less than a HID bulb.
HID stands for High-Intensity Discharge. it works very similarly to our standard halogen bulbs in our cars today. It has a filament that brightens with the electricity but has a different type of gas inside the bulb. When that gas crosses over the filament it burns bright and efficiently.
Though HID bulbs are brighter than LEDs they do not last as long. In some cases, LEDs will last 5 times as long as a hid. This due to the price I believe makes the led the superior bulb.
