Fordyce Lake & Single Peak
Fordyce Lake and Singal Peak Trail
In this episode of SnailTrail4x4 Jimmy Jet and some friends drive out to Fordyce Lake and along the way up to Single Peak. Fordyce Lake Road (Forest Route 85) is a nicely groomed Fire Road with moderate grades a 2 wheel drive vehicle could make it to the turnoff for Signal Peak. As you head up to Signal Peak, the trail gets continuously more challenging, and I would advise having 4 wheel drive. The top Signal Peak at 7789 Feet you have outstanding views of the surrounding Sierra Nevadas. A Brisk little walk brings you to a fire lookout that was constructed in 1909. Turning around and driving back down the trail wasn’t difficult. We turned left back onto Fordyce Lake Road (Forest Route 85) and continued on down to camp at Fordyce Lake. Lounging by the lake fishing and short walk to a waterfall we’re all achievable before dinner. The next day we drove Fordyce Lake Road (Forest Route 85) back to Cisco Grove.
